“Life can be so difficult after football, and I don’t think players truly understand that until they retire.”

- Marvin Morgan

Giving Back to our Community

The Christmas Give Back

In 2021, Fresh Ego FC teamed up with Xtra Time Sports & Childcare and our partners to help 125 households with food, toys and gifts before Christmas.

In 2022, with inflation and rising energy costs facing the UK, we will be continuing to support families around the Watford / South West Hertfordshire area.

Please contact us if you or anyone you know would like to support the Christmas Give Back

Enough is Enough

Fresh Ego FC is a team - and collective - of like-minded individuals in football, music, fashion and beyond who are on a mission to raise awareness around mental health, fighting racism and preparing players for life after football.

History

Fresh Ego FC came together thanks to the vision of the late ex-professional footballer and fashion entrepreneur Marvin Morgan.

The founder of streetwear label Fresh Ego Kid, Marvin’s dream, which he turned into a movement through tireless work and campaigning, stemmed from his own experience playing the game he loved and hanging up his boots.

Before he suddenly and tragically passed away in 2021, Marvin was evangelical about the need to engage local communities and young people to inspire change and raise money for charities to continue their great work in these areas.

Marvin knew football was the perfect platform to spread this message and encourage a better approach from the game’s stakeholders to supporting players who face these challenges before, during and after their careers in the game.

Our Mission

There are three key pillars of Fresh Ego FC.

First of all, we believe in improving life after football for players of all ages and levels.

Football is a multi-billion pound industry, powered by the talent and hard work of those involved in the game. But too often footballers are left without adequate guidance and support when their playing days come to an end. Through a combination of education from academy level and above to proactive initiatives and support networks, Fresh Ego FC will work to better the support given to players, through our own work and through influencing football’s stakeholders.

Furthermore, Fresh Ego FC believes in using the power of football to address societal issues. Racial inequality denies people the right to achieve their goals and reach their potential. We believe that all people are equal regardless age, gender, religion, sexual orientation and racial identity are equal and champion work that helps level the playing field.

Finally, we look to shine a light and raise awareness on mental health issues.

The Professional Footballers’ Association found that 54% of former players have had concerns for their mental wellbeing. We aim to continue furthering the conversation around mental health issues and help young people voice their feelings.

Crucially, our members have lived experience when it comes to these issues and combine that with a strong knowledge of the game - so believe we are perfectly positioned to reach the young people we aim to support and empower.

ABOUT MARVIN

Marvin Morgan was the driving force behind Fresh Ego FC.

In a football career that spanned two decades, Marvin played as a striker for clubs including Aldershot Town, Shrewsbury Town and Plymouth Argyle.

After retiring from the game he loved, Marvin devoted himself to the development of his fashion brand Fresh Ego Kid and utilising his platform and connections in the game to support causes that he felt passionate about.

After seeing friends and he, himself, struggle after retiring from football, both in terms of mental health and in finding a purpose after playing, Marvin set up Fresh Ego FC - a movement to address these issues and also support the fight against racial inequality.

Wednesday Night Football

Fresh Ego FC play weekly 9-a-side games. This brings together our friends including former and current footballers, influencers, YouTubers and TV personalities to enjoy a game together. Importantly, it gives us the opportunity to produce engaging content which helps drive awareness around our mission.
